The Lost!

The Lost
I've just heard from the first person who's received The Lost! So I know the books are on their way, and I hope everyone gets theirs soon. The ebook version of The Lost is supposed to be available on Monday, and I'll put up the link here as soon as I have it. Homecoming, Death Game, and some other SGA and SG-1 novels are already available in ebook here and I understand the plan is to rerelease the out of print novels in ebook, as well as the upcoming new ones.

Now that some folks are getting their books, it's time for the usual courtesy about spoilers for those whose books will take longer to reach them. Please put spoilers under a cut! I will caution that there may be spoilers under a cut or in comments on this journal, because as soon as people start reading the first eight pages I expect to hear some screams! Our pre-readers had a cow in the prologue! So under a cut, please.

That said, let the screaming commence! :) Possible spoilers in comments!

Re: Loved it!
Thanks for the detailed answer. So, it seemed obvious that something non-PG happened after you cut away from the sparring but how about post babysitting? Or anywhere else? And I think you did a hell of a job conveying intimacy and tension, both sexual and emotional, between them without breaking your rating constraints. The scene at the end.... WOW. They seemed to have finally expressed their feelings and gotten together (or at least expressed them to the extent John is capable) Which is why I was dying as to what happened to finally break through those invisible walls between them of what they never say and John's repression and fear (Teyla's too). They both are such restrained/repressed people actually in their own ways, which is one of the things I love most about them. So what gave them the courage/permission to act or speak and who did it first? Was it John hearing in the desert that Teyla didn't judge him for Holland, that she and Kanaan were never married or together in the way he thought, and Teyla seeing his lack of judgment in return at that? Was it John accepting Teyla's gift and all its negative possibilities so whole-heartedly? All of the above?

And off topic, will we see Mel again in Legacy?

Re: Loved it!
Yes, the cut away from the sparring scene was non-PG! (As Todd said, needling John when he came to the control room!) Post babysitting, I doubt it. Teyla was in the infirmary, and when she did get back she could barely walk and was dosed to the gills on Demerol. There might be a cute and cuddly scene, but at that moment I don't think Teyla's up to much else. :(

Or anywhere else?

They go straight from the sparring scene without even five minutes to talk about what just happened into the mission on the Hammond, and then there's Ronon and Sam and not half a minute alone. And then John's unconscious in Sam's infirmary! So I think the next window for people writing fic (hint hint) is after the end scene. We do try to leave fic hooks!

And I think you did a hell of a job conveying intimacy and tension, both sexual and emotional, between them without breaking your rating constraints. The scene at the end.... WOW.

Thank you so much! That makes me very happy! That's my scene and I'm pleased it works.

All of the above! John wasn't going to make a move as long as he thought she and Kanaan had a commitment. And she wasn't going to tell him that unless the situation pushed her to it, although I think her confiding in him had more to do with him confiding in her. The desert trek really pushed John to his nadir, and when he got there he wasn't alone. There was Teyla, guarding his sleep, absolutely accepting him. The image I love the most is John going to sleep seeing her silhouetted against the sky, her gun barrel pointing out into the night.

She accepts things about him that he never thought anyone would. How could he not accept what she has to tell him?

That's John's turning point, the end of the descent he's been on since fourth season. From there it's going up. He will not die on Earth. He won't be Vegas John, no matter what else happens. And the clincher for that is the scene waking up Avenger.

And off topic, will we see Mel again in Legacy?

Yes! Mel will be back in Allegiance! She's assigned to Daedalus' 302 wing!
