Meme Time

The Ten Things You Love Meme -- name ten things you love.

1. Cats. It's probably no surprise to anyone who's read my books that I'm a cat person. In fact, three of my cats have appeared in various books.

2. Flowers. I love flowers, whether cut flowers or potted flowers or bulbs or bushes or plants. Flowers are always the perfect gift for me!

3. Children, my own or anybody else's, babies to teenagers.

4. Chocolate. In any form except mole. That's the only kind of chocolate that I'm not crazy about!

5. Bath products. I have a terrible weakness for bath products. I have about a million little bottles and jars and tubes in every imaginable scent.

6. Music. I'm very untalented myself, but I love to listen and I have a playlist for nearly everything. I think about scenes in terms of what the music ought to be, in terms of what songs go with it in my head.

7. Work. I love to work. For most of the last fifteen years I've had jobs where I either had very little direct supervision or I was working for myself, and left to myself I'll put in 50 hour weeks. I absolutely love to work. If I won the lottery tomorrow I'd take a nice cruise vacation and then get back to work!

8. The changing seasons. I love the beauties of every season, but the marvelous thing is how they differ, how they shade into one another and how the passage of time hones every beauty.

9. Historical puzzles that are meaty and weighty and fascinating.

10. My wonderful partner of seventeen years and our daughter.

And that, my friends, is pretty nearly a summing up of the Aphrodite archetype, isn't it? :)

Interesting; we have some things in common (like #3,7 and 8) but you lost me on #9. Care to elaborate? Maybe even give a couple of examples?

I love historical puzzles where I start asking why. Why did they do that? Why was this person in this place? Why don't these two stories match? Why are there conflicting accounts of this? Why would someone have done something so out of character? Those are the things that spur research, and ultimately begin stories.

If you sub in religious puzzles on 9, and replace 10 with a more general family/friends, this is so very much me.

Okay, I can sing, at least well enough for church choirs.

I suppose I shouldn't introduce you to my favorite place for soaps and scrubs, then? So I don't enable you further.

Heh! I do not need enabling on the bath products front! :)

I can't carry a tune in a bucket, myself.

Curious question: what is 'mole'?

Mole is a sauce in Mexican and Central American cooking that uses both chocolate and chilies. I like chocolate and chilies, but not together! :)

Really? Wow. I love Lush, but I know there aren't that many outlets in the US so didn't think you'd have come across it. :/

There's Lush in DC, where I used to live. A very spiffy boutique, lovely and oh so expensive!
