A couple of people have pointed out that in this month's update I didn't talk about what I was working on now as I usually do. The big thing I've been working on is Steel Blues, the sequel to Lost Things. Melissa and I have finished the first draft and we're waiting to get comments from a couple of excellent pairs of eyes who are taking a look before it goes to Crossroad Press.
It's 1932, and the Depression is at its height. The gang at Gilchrist Aviation is flat broke, so when there's the long shot of trying to win the money they need to stay afloat by winning a cross country air race, our guys are game. It's a grueling course from Los Angeles to Miami across desert and plains and swamps, a real test of guts and skill. You'd think that would be trouble enough, but add in a cursed necklace, a stowaway medium, and the shadow of a series of thirteen year old serial murders, and it's rapidly going from dangerous to insane! In 1919 a serial killer called the Axeman terrorized New Orleans, and like Jack the Ripper before him, he was never caught. And what if one of our guys knows a lot more about the murders than he should? By the time the race reaches New Orleans, there's hell to pay....
I'm in love with these characters and this world, and I hope you're enjoying them too. I can't wait to share more of their adventures with you!
Any thoughts about Lost Things from those of you who've read it?
