Which book, part 2

A reader says, "The other day you were recommending a book for people who liked your new book. I love your stargate books and that's how I found you. I'm sad that the Legacy series is ending! I'll miss it a lot. Is there another one of your books you'd recommend to me? I don't know a lot of history and stuff. I'm more kind of an action girl."

I'm sad Legacy is ending too! Though I think you'll really like The Inheritors. I'm pleased with how it came out. Definitely the "big bang" ending!

If you like my Stargate books, you'll like Lost Things. It's the same kind of strong team adventure. Yes, it's in a past setting but it's in the 20th century so it doesn't feel as alien as ancient history. It's about a team like Stargate is, and it's got the same feel of action and adventure and character driven moments, with likable heroes who use their brains as much as their brawn to handle dangerous situations. There's flying and magic and people who stick together through thick and thin. It's very much the same feel.

What do you guys think?

I haven't gotten read too far into Lost Things yet - have to wait until the semester ends and my papers are finished. But I've really enjoyed the chapters I've been able to read. You have a very deft hand at creating characters that *feel* real - as though if I look up from the page, I could find them walking and talking around me. I also like how each person is different and they have their own strengths and weaknesses, their own baggage, and their own ways of looking at the world. Lost Things has been a lot of fun so far and I'm anxious to get back to it :).

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I thought you would like it. You're one of the ones I was thinking of, since it seems like you love the "teaminess!" I'd love to hear what you think as you go. (And I'm betting Alma will be your favorite?)

I will definitely let you know :). My last paper will be made to walk the plank today and then (minus a last few homework assignments that are easy to pound out) I'm free!!

Finished Lost Things a few days ago and loved it. It's an intriguing concept and the characters interact so well and convincing with each other. Each of them is unique and adds to the collective abilities. The amount of detail is amazing, it feels like a trip in a time machine because the world is described so tangible - I could almost hear the plane's engines while reading. It's a very promising start and I'm looking forward to the second book!

btw, did you receive my PM over on GW last month? The forum can be glitchy and eats PMs occasionally. :o

I'm so glad you loved it! I hoped you would! It was a lot of fun to write, and the past really is a different country, as surely as a place that has never existed. I'm curious -- which was your favorite character?

No, I didn't. I had a thing where it said my mailbox was too full of saved messages and I couldn't receive anymore. I don't know if some didn't go through before I realized and deleted some. I'm sorry! What's up?

My fav character? That's a tough question! I think it has to be Jerry because he's a very strong character. Life hasn't treated him kindly yet he hasn't lost his pride and remains upright.

Ah, I know that kind of thing. Stupid message limit. I'm going to send the message here on LJ. :)

That's true. Life has not been at all kind to Jerry. He's truly not over Gil and ready to move on as Alma is, but he'll get there. In the fourth book, which we're about to start, there's the handsome archaeologist Karl-Maria Becker....

Oh, that sounds promising! Jerry deserves to be happy, and if he finds someone who shares his passion for archaeology, that's even better! (Another reason to like Jerry - archaeology is just so cool!)

I hope there will be more about Gil in the books to come, he must've been an extraordinary man.
