Alma Gilchrist and Amelia Earhart

A number of reviewers have said that Alma Gilchrist is a remarkable heroine, and that her ideas and attitudes are unique for her era. I thought I'd share a real letter from Amelia Earhart to George Putnam, her future husband, before they were married in 1931.

Earhart

You can see where Alma gets her ideas on Free Love!

I recently read a book where some of the characters were having Issues on the topic of Free Love... circa 1899. It was certainly not unique by the *20s*! I mean, flappers were rather... fast... you know. ;)

I do hope Amelia Earhart's marriage was a copacetic one.

A free thinking woman, way ahead of most of her time. :) If only people could be so honest these days.
