February Update

It's time for the February update! (Ok, it was a couple of days ago, but I'm working on it here!)

The Inheritors will be out shortly. Final revisions have been turned in to MGM, so as soon as they approve them the ebook will be coming out, followed by the print edition as quickly as it can be printed. Just a couple of weeks now, folks! I admit, I cried. The end makes me cry. In more than one place. It's satisfying, and I hope you will think so too.

Steel Blues will be out April 1! Everything is finished, everything is turned in, and now it's just a few weeks left. If you've enjoyed our Stargate books, you might check out Lost Things and Steel Blues for the same kind of strong team adventure. I think Steel Blues is even better than Lost Things, though I miss the airship!

After that, my next book out will probably be The Emperor's Agent, the sequel to The General's Mistress which has been acquired by Crossroad Press and will be out sometime in the summer. Lots more on that as we get closer! I can't wait for you to read Elza's continuing adventures. She's my very favorite narrator.

Next there's Silver Bullet, probably in early fall. We just (today!) finished Silver Bullet, and so now it's starting the rounds of editing and revisions. And it has Nikola Tesla. What can I say? Everything is better with Tesla.

Then, rolling into next winter, the third Elza book, The Marshal's Lover! I've got a little work to do on it yet, a few revisions to the last third of the book in the section in Italy, in which Elza returns to Mt. Vesuvius and the caves at Cumae. I'll be working on that later in the spring.

Also on my plate next, the revisions to Lifeboat. Lifeboat doesn't have a home yet, but first some rewrites with Amy Griswold before we start looking for a publisher for it. That's next, what I'll probably start on this week.

After the revisions for Lifeboat and The Marshal's Lover I'll begin work on Wind Raker, the fourth book of the Order of the Air, which is expected in 2014. The team is going to Hawaii, only what seems like a nice job gets complicated with a mysterious archaeological dig, three orphans, a German naval vessel, and the return of an old enemy whose new occult plot could change the course of the world to come.

There are also a couple of other projects that may come to fruition this year, but that's what I know about -- my year as planned! What do you guys think? What are you looking forward to?

Sure you don't need a beta reader for Lifeboat? I'd be happy to oblige. AND to buy it when it comes out.

Thank you for the offer! I don't think we're quite there yet, but I'll remember when we are!

Would it be a cop-out to say all of it? Probably, huh?

And yeah, so true, everything IS better with Tesla!

Glad to hear you're doing more books with Crossroads Press. I like being able to buy the ebook version, and I was disappointed to find that the first Elza book had DRM on it, which prevented me from buying it.

That's one thing I like about the smaller publishers. I don't like the DRM, but the author doesn't have any say so about it.

I am happy to see that the next two books about Elza won't be so long in the coming - YAY to that!

Will the series continue after 'The Marshal's Lover'? I should like to read about Elza's whole life. It's so interesting.

Yes, there are more! I've done about 30,000 words of the fourth book, tentatively "The Courtesan's War." Russia. There is no good there. None. It's going to be a harrowing book. But that's what it is -- we'll see the other side of Lydias' vision, his dream of the retreat in the snow that he dreamed in Gedrosia. The Retreat from Moscow is the point where Elza and Lydias really touch.

Oh my! Speed up the writing please. Even if it's a really tough and harrowing episode in time, it is still one of my favourites and I'm sure your Michel will be up to it.
