Something off the left field wall...
I have been listening to the 1979 cast of Evita, and reading s pretty good fictional biography of Empress Theodora.

Talk about parallel lives: Actress, Courtesan/Prostitute, Mistress then wife of the Emperor/President, to pretty much ruler in her own right. I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of either of them.

Some trivia for the new day.

Re: Something off the left field wall...
This makes me grin! I had the cast album too, after I saw Evita in 1982 when I was fifteen. I was so into it! I probably still know every word. And not so oddly at all, I thought about Theodora. I was very into Theodora too.

Hard to choose between "Lost Things" and "Steel Blues". I really like the unusual/underutilized time period of the setting, and the career/set up of the characters. And the characters themselves. Great stuff!

Thank you! I'm so pleased you're enjoying the series. It is an unusual period, later than the usual steampunk, and I think it's a fascinating era. A lot like our own, actually.

I think Silver Bullet may be the best of the three, but perhaps that's because it's the new one for me!

I was torn between Order of the Air 1 and 2, since 2 had everything in place and bonus Stasi! But Lost Things was just so perfectly put together, such a great story and introduction to the series. Really love it. :D

Thank you! I kind of love Silver Bullet the best of the three. But maybe that's because it's the new one....

Elza
I just finished "The Emperor's Agent" about an hour ago. Please hurry with the rest of Elza's story! I love that Gull is Gull, as a man or a woman. Does the soul have a gender?

Re: Elza
OH I am so glad you liked Elza! It really makes me happy to hear from someone who enjoyed the book.

Gull is always gull, isn't she? That's why the image of her traveling soul as a gull, the image of who she really is. As Michael said, "Not a dove. A gull, to try the winds far out to sea and come at last storm-tossed to shore."

The soul does not have gender, no more than it has race or ethnicity. After all, if part of the point is to experience all aspects of life, a balanced picture involves being both male and female in turn. Gull isn't "really" male or "really" female -- Gull is Lydias and Charmian and Elza and Georg in equal measure. Does that make sense?

I can't answer the 2nd question, because you don't have the option 'every damn one of them'!
