Cats in my books

It's time for cheerful felinity! All my cats wind up in my books. I've talked before about my Siamese, Selene, who is playing Rodney's cat Newton in the Legacy series. This is Selene assisting with computer operations. As you can see, Rodney would find her very helpful!

This is my dear old cat Charlotte, gone eleven years now, who is the model for Sheba in Hand of Isis. She was a fierce and brilliant cat, and like Sheba is to Charmian, loyal to no one but me. I miss her still.

Charlotte

This is Alex, my partner's cat actually, who lived to be a very old gentleman of eighteen, always sweet and gentle and kind. This is Alex in his younger days, assisting with feeding my newborn daughter by curling up on the outside of the nursing pillow protectively to keep her warm. He appears as Alexander, the cat belonging to Artasir's children, in Stealing Fire.

Alex and Squiddy on the Boppy

And last but not least, this is Ptolemy the little nut, our young cat who hasn't been in a book yet. However he has a role waiting for him! He will appear in the Order of the Air beginning with Fire Season when he joins Alma and Lewis' household.

Anyway, happy felinity to everyone!

Instinctive response: Kitties!!!!!!!

Alexander looks and sounds like my father's cat, George. George was my first babysitter, and was wonderfully patient with small children pulling on fur and tails. Sara used him as a pillow on multiple occasions, and he never got angry with her. He was also the big cat that could chase down the neighborhood dogs if need be.

Ptolemy looks like mischief personified.

George sounds like a love. Alex was a lap leech and never minded our daughter climbing on him or using him for a pillow. He was very protective, and when she was a baby he insisted on washing her.

I love that picture! It's the only decent one out of about twenty, which kept showing only his tail as he cavorted, or his nose in close up, etc.

He is! He was an adorable baby. Now he's a big darling lethal mouser and looming minion. I swear we should have named him Druitt.

The laying on mouse-wielding arms must be a Siamese trait. My mom's lynx point Siamese Lucy does it whenever I work from home. Obviously I should be petting her instead.

Heh. That's Selene's opinion. Hands which are not petting her are wasted!
