Jerry and Relationships

A reader asks, "Will poor Jerry ever manage to have a relationship? I feel so bad for him."

Yes, Jerry will have a new relationship in the fourth Order of the Air book, Wind Raker. This is not to say that the course of love will run smooth, but he will indeed embark on a new relationship!

I hope his new relationship is with Alma. They're my OTP. (thus endeth the ridiculous fake fanboy portion of the reply ;D)

I'm very happy for him, but I'm really glad you've built this world where it's completely in character for one of the heroes to get a semi-anonymous blow job outside a bar. No shame, no character flaw, he just needed to get a little relief and that's where it came from. I really loved that scene. :D

Jerry/Alma -- yeah, no. If that was going to happen, it would have happened after Gil died. They would have turned to each other. But I think the bottom line is that Jerry is really gay, and while he loves Alma he doesn't really love her that way. Without Gil, it's not enough. Without Gil, they're more brother and sister.

I'm so glad you liked that scene! (It's Melissa's, no surprise!) And that scene is really necessary because it's the counterpoint to Mitch and Stasi. Pelley lays it out in the beginning -- two Americas in conflict. So throughout the book we're seeing two Americas through Mitch and Jerry. But is it conflict or compliment? Don't these things need each other, part of a whole?

Jerry will definitely find someone he is serious about. But it's certainly not going to be easy!
