Favorite magic?

A reader asks, "What's your favorite magic in the Order of the Air?"

I think it's the big ritual magic scene at the end of Wind Raker, which is coming up. That's the one that was most difficult and intense, and that so far I'm proudest of. (Though there's one I'm looking forward to writing in Oath Bound that may take first place!)

Which is yours? What's your favorite magic in the Order of the Air?

I'd have to go with the forging of the amulets in Lost Things. Great everyman perspective through Lewis and just the fact that they used cologne (and it was referenced in Steel Blues).

Yeah.

Do they still wear the amulets?

Not usually. I think Jerry wears his more than the others.

I love that scene! The cologne was my idea, and it made me smile so much, imagining what Henry's shop guys thought the next morning!

As I mentioned in a comment sometime back, I just loved the scene in Silver Bullet where Mitch lit a Camel, made of tobacco grown where he was born and raised, to forge a connection and ask for help. Subtle, ephemeral magic, right out in public, giving him a hint where to go next.

I'm so glad you love that scene! That was my favorite until the new one in Wind Raker. It's so subtle and effective. Mitch as a very sneaky magic.
