The next Stargate book?

A reader asks, "When is the next Stargate book coming?"

Soon! Melissa and I are working on the eighth Legacy book, The Third Path, which is due to our publisher on May 1. It will be out sometime in the summer.

I've just written a scene with John and Teyla exploring a deserted Asgard installation in the Pegasus galaxy, while Melissa is in the midst of Ronon and Dr. Parrish pinned down by unknown energy weapons on an unexplored planet! Very exciting stuff! Up next for me: Elizabeth negotiates with a dangerous enemy, helped/hindered by Rodney and Daniel!

Yay! Another reason to look forward to summer. Also, this gives me plenty of time to re-read the other Legacy books so I'll have the plot bright and clear in my head.

ah!every time I hear about another book in the legacy series, I think about how there was supposed to be less... and yet next will be the 8th!
(But I don't think I'm the only one who mentioned it, right?)
Ohh! cannot wait for Elizabeth, Rodney and Daniel... Rodney and Daniel, also on the sho and in your books, are always so fun when they interact together, and Rodny is the sweetest when it comes to Elizabeth, so...
yey for next Summer, when I'll be again on a seaside reading again a legacy book!

The series does keep growing, doesn't it?

I always really liked the dynamic between Elizabeth and Daniel, and I'm happy to be able to write it in this book. And Rodney -- he's kind of protective of Elizabeth. I might be the tiniest Rodney/Elizabeth shipper. Yeah, I know that's a ship nobody ships! :)

I'm excited! I've loved this series so much. I guess it's a good thing this semester has been so busy... it's been easy to read Unacended a little bit at a time. Gotta stretch it out. =)

*g* I hope you're enjoying Unascended. That was a fun book to write. I haven't really gotten to write Elizabeth much since only one of my books has been set before fourth season.

ha. I believe that's the book that I've temporarily put Unacended aside to read right now. Death Game?

Yes! Death Game is the only time before Unascended that I got to write Elizabeth. (Well, except in fanfic....) :)

I just finished Death Game! The semester is finally over and I could read something that wasn't about seed germination or renal function! YES!

I liked it. I really enjoyed the stories told as a way to get to know the characters. It was awesome. And felt like a prequel to the Legacy series!

I am so happy I decided to pick up Homecoming. I tend to shy away from novelizations because I often feel like I watched a completely different show than the author did, but I don't feel that way with your books and most of the books I've read so far in the Stargate series.

Sorry, I just found this comment, so I'm late replying.

I'm so glad you liked Death Game! It really was a prequel to the Legacy series, though I didn't know yet that Legacy would be a thing. We pitched Legacy to MGM when I was about halfway through writing Death Game, and it took months to hear from them, so I had no idea if it would happen or not.

How did you like Homecoming?

I liked Homecoming a lot. It's been a long time since I read it so I don't remember specifics. I found it by chance at the library, and almost didn't check it out because I've read some bad novelizations in the past, but was so glad I did. I feel like this whole series has been canon, honestly.

With school and work I don't have a lot of time to read for pleasure, but I've made time for these books. And this summer I hope to get to some of your other books.

Oh, and I forgot to say in my last comment that if you've written fanfic that makes me like you even more. ;)

I'm glad you liked it and it wasn't one of those bad novelizations! :) I really hate it when I buy a book for a series I love and then the novel is terrible and it's clear the author doesn't care about these people. I don't think I could write for a series I don't love. (In fact I've turned down writing for a series I didn't like because I knew I would do a bad job.)

Oh yes! Lots of fanfic! :) Stargate is kind of strange because I have bunch of fanfic and pro novels in the same continuities and with the same characters. I have to try to keep those things separate even if I can't quite keep them separate in my head. I admit that sometimes I've done fanfic as "deleted scenes" from my own pro novels.

Will my favourite wraith characters, Todd and/or Ember play a role in this book? Or this time it will be more focused on the crew of Atlantis?

There is lots of Ember, since he'll be in Atlantis most of the book. There is some Todd and Alabaster, but not as much. LOTS of Ember!
