Ronon's Book

A reader says, "You said Allegiance is Ronon's book. What's up with that?"

Each of the middle four books of the Legacy series focus on one of the team, just as various episodes of the show were focused on different team members. Of course all of the team are in all of the books, but each one gets a book where their plot is front and center and they have the starring role. The Lost was John's book. It's about his choices and his mistakes, about his decisions in the past and in the present, and he's the one who got the most character exploration.

Allegiance is Ronon's book, and I think it harkens back especially to the episode Sateda, in part because once again Ronon has to return to Sateda, only things have happened there that he could not have imagined, leading to a series of explosive new confrontations! The plot is really driven by Ronon and by the exploration of his past, what it means to be Satedan, and what that might mean in the future. Who is he going to be? What is his future?

The Avengers is Teyla's book. I would say it draws most heavily on The Gift, Submersion, and The Queen as its inspirations, as Teyla has to take on a challenge she is hesitant about for very good reasons, resuming her role as Steelflower, Todd's Queen, from the episode The Queen. That's my book, and I love writing Teyla front and center!

Secrets is Rodney's book, and I have to say that if Rodney whump is your thing you will not be disappointed! Rodney's had some tight situations in the past in The Tao of Rodney, Grace Under Pressure, and The Shrine, but we put him through it in Secrets! This is Rodney really tested to his limits, and I love the results.

And in the last book, The Inheritors, it will tie everything up in an ensemble performance, resolving each of the plotlines -- which will be the interesting trick!

All of this is making me want the book out even faster.

I can't wait to see the other stories start to unfold and then get completed.

I'm eager for Allegiance to come out too because I want to talk about the spoilers! :)

Agreed.
I want to hear about the other books, but don't want to spoil any of the surprises in Allegiance.

How much longer....?
When are they going to release "Allegiance"? It seems like it's taking forever.

Re: How much longer....?
It's looking like 3 or 4 weeks. Right now they've got the first half of the book back from MGM, so they're just waiting on the second half! That said, it depends on MGM, but I'm guessing 3 or 4 weeks.

Re: How much longer....?
I hope you're right. I've been waiting to find out what happens to Rodney for a long time.

Does MGM have to approve of the book or something? Are they very picky similar to like I've heard that Paramount is with Star Trek books?

Re: How much longer....?
Yes, MGM has to approve everything! The book is ready and it's at MGM for final approval. As soon as MGM signs off on it, it's ready to print.

Re: How much longer....?
Hope it's ready soon. I'm collecting the Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis paperbacks when I can find them, but I'm reading them all on my Kindle.

If it's 3 or 4 weeks out, then it'll be close to Christmas. I can order it when I do my Christmas shopping on Amazon.

I wish that Amazon would put up a pre-order for "Allegiance". That way I wouldnt have to check the site every few days.

I'm glad that there are people out there still writing Stargate novels. Keeps the shows going...sort of. I read Stargate fan fiction a lot, but some of those fanfic writers really need writing classes and editors (or at least a spellchecker)

Re: How much longer....?
It will certainly be before Christmas! Sorry about no preorder on Amazon -- I have no idea what goes on with Amazon and never do!

I'm really happy to be able to work on these books and keep the shows going like the Star Trek novels did for Star Trek between shows. I love these characters!

Re: How much longer....?
Hopefully it'll be out before the SG-1 novel "Oceans of Dust" that Amazon just now emailed me about. Ordered that paperback in September of 2010. Amazon just emailed me to inform me that it's pushed back to January 23rd of 2012. I think that's the third or fourth time Amazon's emailed to tell me the release date has changed. Glad Amazon keeps me informed. I bet it's MGM holding up the whole thing.

I've found that you have to be very very very patient while waiting for a Stargate novel to be released.

At least I discovered that they released another of the older SG-1 novels ("Siren Song") for the Kindle yesterday. Gives me something Stargate-ish to read while I'm waiting to find out what happens to Rodney in your book.

At least I've found a few SG:A fanfic authors that are halfway decent. I've been putting the fanfic on my Kindle so I'm not chained to a computer to read them. Keeps me entertained while waiting for the "official" new Stargate stories.

Re: How much longer....?
It's supposed to be out in November. Currently the last round of edits is back from MGM, so it shouldn't be more than about three weeks from here on in.

There's a lot of SGA fanfic, and some of it is very good! I know I have my favorite authors. For example, anything by gelbes_gilatier is bound to be good.

Re: How much longer....?
I cant wait till "Allegiance" is out now if you're saying it's just going to be a few weeks. Yay!!

Hopefully whatever you've done to Rodney isnt permanent. You can abuse him a little, but please dont do anything permanent to him. You didnt feed him any citrus did you?? :D

You'll have to wait and see what happens to Rodney and if it's permanent! That's too spoilery for me to say! :)
