Allegiance in paperback

Allegiance is now available in paperback directly from the publisher at stargatenovels.com. It should also eventually be available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc -- however, I do not know how long it will take them to order and stock it! If you're in a hurry, your best bet is to order directly from the publisher.

This is the only one of the Legacy series that is not my book, so I can freely say that I love it! Melissa and Amy did a fantastic job. So if you've been waiting for the paperback edition, now's the time!

However, we have no control over Amazon's warehouse or internal procedures, ie how long it takes them to put something up on the website once they have it in stock. This may take a week. It may take three weeks. We don't know. But absolutely AMAZON WILL STOCK ALLEGIANCE IN PAPERBACK!

I was promised an Amazon gift card for Christmas this year so I kind of stopped moping and will patiently wait for the paperback editions to pop up there ;) Anyway, it's good to see that at least they're actually out now \o/

It is highly unlikely that Amazon will sell a paperback version of the book. They stopped selling and wouldn't even ship the StarGate SG-1 novel Transitions, instead they only host it as an e-book for purchase.

It seems they are switching over to e-books because I haven't even been able to search for this book there at all as a book. :(

Update: Here is the book at Amazon, but its an e-book and you'll need a Kindle, I did a full search for the paperback version and apparently they won't offer it.

Nooooo don't say that! (mostly because I was starting to be afraid of that myself) I'm starting to go from dislike to hate for e-books. :(

I know, I hate/dislike e-books. :(
But searching for many new books have only brought up Kindle results at Amazon and I hate it. I'm not buying a Kindle. Nothing beats a good old fashion book, especially if its dealing with something that has a battery that can die.
Its like Amazon is tryring to force users to get a Kindle. the only Legacy books they have advertised as books are Homecoming and The Lost, and they usually have books that haven't been published yet for pre-sale. Allegiance should be there as a paperback (hardcopy) if they were offering it that way.

I had to order it from the publisher and its being shipped from England and they are already over-ordered if I understand the e-mail I got saying I'd have to wait longer to even recieve the book.

Oh God, that sounds awful. I honestly don't want to order all my books from the respective publishers in the US and the UK just because Amazon wants to sell their e-reader (Harlequin, by the way, doesn't even ship to Germany because they have German branches... that sell the books in German which is exactly what I don't want to read). I'm feeling duped. I'm feeling very much like yelling at Amazon. Good thing I know a guy who works at Amazon support...

Yes, yes please yell at Amazon. Something needs to be done.
I heard on the News yesterday that Amazon has even created an app for smart phones that people can use to scan the barcodes to books in book stores to get the price to compare online and get better. But Amazon says its to get a big corporations that sell books but its hurting the small stores that sell books. Sounds like they're trying to make money any possible way.

What's happening to the time when you can buy a good old fashion hardcopy/paperback book? I feel duped too, I used to order all my new books at Amazon. :(

See, that's why I really hope they won't abandon what we call Buchpreisbindung here (it means that books, at least German books from German publishers, have to cost the same wherever we buy them, be it Amazon or the little book shop around that corner - it's different for books from other countries, mostly the US, UK and everyone not in the Eurozone because there's always the exchange rate).

*sighs Let's hope they make true on their promise and do put them up in hard copy. I want to read this book *jumps up and down excitedly

i hate e-books to, theres nothing like picking up a book and smelling the book smell. and just reading it and not worrying about batterys lighing or anything else like that.

I'm sorry for the confusion, but Amazon absolutely will stock Allegiance in paperback!

However, we have no control over how long it takes them to get it in stock, for their warehouse to communicate that they have it, and for the website to be updated.

In this case, seeing is believing ;) But I appreciate everything you, Melissa and Amy could do and are still doing for us, including keeping us updated on the situation! You're an awesome author team :)

Thank you! Once the book leaves our hands we don't have any control over which stores stock it or when -- and frankly a lot of that depends on sales. If sales were good for the first two books through a certain outlet, they'll stock the third. If the last one didn't sell well enough, they won't. And we don't actually know how many copies are selling where.

Amazon will indeed sell the paperback. Absolutely, positively, it will!

However, we have no control over Amazon's stocking or how long it takes them to get it in their warehouse and to ship it.

We can wait and see. Amazon said that they would stock StarGate SG1 Transitions, then they kept changing the release date and then totally went over to the e-book/Kindle version. At Amazon, they have said one thing and later at the last minute change it. My copy of Transitions was supposed to ship a certain day and the day before, Amazon sent an e-mail and said they canceled the orderd and that it was only available in Kindle version, they even gave me a link to it.

When it comes to Amazon, I'll believe it when they actually start advertising and shipping the true book.

YAY so we may do the happy dance?

do you know if it will be up at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/
Dec. 10th, 2011 11:19 am (UTC)
I don't know. It depends on if book depository orders it or not. They've ordered the first two books in the series, but whether they order the third to stock depends on how sales were of the first two, and I have no idea. I'm sorry!

For those who have a Nook, I noticed Crossroad Press has Allegiance available in the epub format. On payday if B&N doesn't have it I'll be buying it there so I can read it.
Dec. 10th, 2011 09:19 am (UTC)
When you search for Allegiance on B&N, search under Melissa Scott's name. When I searched under Stargate Atlantis or other Stargate searches I couldn't find it, but when I searched under Melissa's name it was right at the top and I have it on my Nook now. :)

Yay! I don't know what's up with that, but I told Melissa and she said it was probably her fault! :)

Search under SGA as well for Atlantis books. I found it that way and noticed a couple of older books as well, Halcyon and The Chosen. I bought them right away.
Dec. 10th, 2011 11:20 am (UTC)
They do! They have all the popular formats, including pdf for people who want to read on their computer.

delivery from uk or us
hi, please could someone tell me if the book from stargatenovels will be sent from the UK or US??
Dec. 10th, 2011 11:21 am (UTC)
Re: delivery from uk or us
It ships from the US if you order directly, because that's where the printer is. Hope that helps!

I tried to order a paperback-copy from Fandemonium, but this try ended as I don't own (and don't want) an international credit card. Even if I'd one, the book would have cost me 18 US$, 3 to 5 weeks for shipping... sorry. I'd pay 20$ for a hardcover, but not for a paperback.
I guess, amazon will show the book to order as paperversion after Christmas - they have to sell their Kindles... >:(
