January!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2012 treats you well.

I'm hoping that 2012 will be the first year in which I have three books come out in one year -- and maybe four! Book four of the Legacy series, The Avengers, is due out in March -- in which Teyla Emmagan and Sam Carter kick serious butt. Book five of the Legacy series, Secrets, is expected sometime in the summer -- in which the team begins to finally unravel old wrongs, finding new hope for the Pegasus Galaxy as well as a deadly threat. My SG-1 novel with Melissa Scott, Moebius Squared, will hopefully be along in the fall -- returning to the alternate SG-1 left behind in the past in the episode Moebius. Also in the fall, expect the first of my Age of Revolution novels, The General's Mistress! I can't tell you how excited I am about this one!

Lost Things, the occult thriller that Melissa and I wrote set in the 1920s, is out for sale at a number of publishers. We have our fingers crossed that someone will love it! In 1929 the archaeological dig at Lake Nemi in Italy unearthed the remains of a Roman ship buried in the silt of the lake since the reign of Claudius. Unfortunately, they also unearthed more than they expected when they freed an animus infernus, a spirit of the lower regions. Now a motley team of aviators, occultists, and archaeologists have to capture it -- before it resumes its old plans for world domination in this very fertile century.

The Emperor's Companion, sequel to The General's Mistress, is complete, polished and ready to go. I hope that it will sell as a direct sequel in 2012! Set in 1804-1805, Elza has a big problem -- she's being blackmailed by the fearsome Minister of Police, Joseph Fouche. If she doesn't dance to his tune she'll be extradited to Holland to spend the rest of her life in a madhouse. And if she does, she will betray those she loves most. But old oaths bind her still, and she is more than the courtesan she appears. Once, in Babylon she swore her loyalty to the dying Macedonian king, to death and beyond. This is beyond....

Right this moment I'm working on a new book with Amy Griswold, who you may know from The Lost and Allegiance, a science fiction book called Lifeboat. It's very much in the style of Andre Norton and early Marion Zimmer Bradley (except for the part about people talking like they're in the 1960s, because we aren't anymore), about a group of castaways marooned on a strange world. We're about a third of the way in, and I'm enjoying it so much!

So what do you guys think? Anything you're curious about? Anything you're especially looking forward to?

I'm really really really hoping Lost Things will sell. That just sounds SO awesome. And you and Amy writing castaways on a strange world makes me bounce in my seat! Of course, I grew up reading those same books, so I'd love to see your take on it.

I'm really really hoping Lost Things sells too! It was so much fun to write, and we know what the sequel would be.

Lifeboat is being a blast too. I loved Andre Norton so much, and I think this has the same feel. I hope so, anyway!

Thank you! And Mara Jade is the perfect icon for this -- there's actually a chapter of the second Elza book called "The Emperor's Hand". Heh.

'Lost things' sounds very intriguing, I like mystery and occult based on history.

Elza vs Fouche sounds very promising as well. She is against a very notorious person. I hope your ending phrase in the paragraph "This is beyond" means some interaction with the past.

Lost Things is a lot of fun. I love the combination of aviation and archaeology. It's very Indiana Jones, in a good way!

This is beyond does indeed mean that! Lydias swore an oath to Alexander beyond death. What happens when that ancient oath is once again called for?

The delay has meant that the SG-1 books are stacked in ahead of it. The next one is Peter Evans' Oceans of Dust, then Amy Griswold's Heart's Desire, and then Moebius Squared. I understand that Oceans of Dust is Teal'c-centric with Master Bra'tac. Heart's Desire is set third season, when Daniel finds an Ancient device which gives each member of the team their heart's desire and you can imagine it all goes very wrong! And then Moebius is after they're published.

I'm so happy to hear about the wonderful year you have ahead of you. Your work is great and the fruitage of it much deserved.

I do have a question for you, I've been thinking on it all day. Don't know if anyone has asked this, but do the creative minds that was behind SGA/SG-1 have any voice in where you go with your muse in this verse? Do they ever just say, "Hey I think you ladies are doing a great job with these characters!"

Just wondering.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

No, I've never heard anything from any of TPTB. The only thing I've heard from anyone connected is that someone told me they asked Jason Momoa about the books at a con and he said that he'd heard they were good, go check them out. Which is awesome! But that's actually all I know.

I am so excited about the Elza books and can't wait to see them. :D

I haven't read any of the SG1 or SGA books, but my sister says that she grabbed a a couple to send me that were available at the last Stargate Convention she went to.

I'm also intrigued by the others. I really hope that you guys get a seller for Lost Things because it sounds really interesting and one of those books I would read over and over. :D

I'm glad you're excited! I'm super excited about The General's Mistress. I can't wait to see the cover!

I hope you enjoy the Stargate books. They've been a lot of fun to write!

I hope Lost Things sells. We know what the sequel will be if it does! It could definitely be a series.

Awesome news on the Stargate books. I guess with that time line, then book six is out in 2013?

I would guess so. We don't have a firm timeline on the sixth book yet. Basically everything is put back six months, is what it seems like.
