March Update

It's the first day of March, and it's supposed to be in the seventies here today, which yes, is unseasonably warm! It's perfectly clear, my tulips are growing like crazy, and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. So what am I working on this month?

My big news is that Lost Things has been picked up by Crossroad Press and will be out in July! This is the adventure/occult thriller set in the 1920s, with aviators and archaeologists on the trail of an escaped demon that I did with Melissa Scott and I'm very excited! We think it's a lot of fun and we're excited to have it in good hands. We've just found out that the cover will be done by veteran illustrator Bob Eggleton, and we can't wait to see it! The concept involves an airship, a plane, and the Invoking Sigil of Diana, so nifty stuff! As soon as I have the cover I'll put it up here for you to preview!

Another piece of good news regarding The General's Mistress, the first of my Age of Revolution books which is due out in October from Simon & Schuster -- there will be a very small number of uncorrected bound galleys available as review copies, and you can win one here! Once I have them in hand I'll have a contest on this site. Anybody have any idea for a good one? I just did a plain drawing for the Stealing Fire galleys, but maybe something more fun this time? Or just stick with a plain old drawing? In any event, a few lucky people will get The General's Mistress months early! It could be you!

Meanwhile, The Avengers is still at MGM. It's the next book in the queue, so as soon as MGM signs off on it, it should be out this spring. I truly can't wait to hear what you guys think!

In terms of what I'm working on at the moment, I'm getting started on Steel Blues, which is the sequel to Lost Things. Right now I'm working on a Hollywood party at which our team is going to meet three very different and interesting women, all of whom will have a part to play in their lives in this book and the next ones.

I hope you are all having a beautiful spring!

It could be a plain old drawing! That works!

Hee, I was sort of thinking that you could get someone to draw Tarot for each entry (maybe just a one-card draw), and pick the enterer(s) who obviously need the book the most. :-P

That's an idea! :) I'll probably have six or eight to give away, maybe ten. I'll have to see. Personally I'm jumping up and down and can't wait to see it! I have no idea what the cover looks like yet.

Yay! I'm so happy to hear about Lost Things. It sounds like it should be tons of fun (I'm a Melissa Scott fan too).

I'm very, very happy about Lost Things too! I love working with Melissa, and we had a blast writing Lost Things. We're starting on the sequel, Steel Blues, and that's going to be neat. I was a fan of Melissa's for years before I met her, so it's wonderful to work with her, a dream come true.

I would have loved to have entered the competition for a review copy of The General's Mistress, but I am absolutely hopeless at writing reviews. However, the Tarot thing sounds great, so I'll just watch from the side-line. Have fun!

I'll have to think of a good way to do the giveaway. Obviously I do want people to write reviews, though. And I hope you enjoy the book!

I am sure I shall enjoy the book - and the reviews. Will they be posted here? I ask because I never did seem to be able to find the reviews of Stealing Fire. Is it because they were posted on different sites?

I link to reviews when I find them. There weren't very many for Stealing Fire on lj. :(

I can't think of any fun drawing idea where I might feasibly stand a chance! I'll attempt a review on Goodreads no matter what though, gotta plug the authors I like, so more keeps coming!

Lost Things in July, that's fantastic - and will make my impending unemployment far more appealing!

Thank you so much for reviewing! It really does make a huge difference.

Lost Things will be in July, yes. I can't wait to see the cover!

Wait, does that mean it's coming out in PRINT? Whoo! I can buy copies for my Hollow Earth Expeditions RPG group!
