Lost Things questions

Fielding some questions today!

I'm Australian and Barnes & Noble says I have to have a US address to buy Lost Things. How can I get it?

I've heard this problem from several Australians, that their credit cards were rejected by Barnes & Noble. I have no idea what the issue is at B&N, but you have three options. You can preorder the paperback directly from the publisher with a good international shipping deal, you can wait until the B&N exclusive is over on August 9 and get the ebook from the publisher (there is no geographic exclusion at all), or you can wait until August 9 and get it through Amazon. I'm so sorry you had a problem with B&N!

It's really nice to see a book with older main characters, with heroes who aren't kids. How old are the gang in Lost Things? Do you know their birthdays and everything?

Yes! Lost Things takes place in the spring of 1929, in those heady months before the Crash that started the Great Depression. Jerry is the oldest, born July 1, 1887. Jerry is forty-one. Alma was born May 10, 1890. She's thirty eight. Lewis is not quite two weeks younger, born May 23, 1890. And Mitch is the baby, born April 4, 1892. He's thirty six, not quite thirty seven.

I prefer dead tree books to ebooks. I'm sure they're very nice, but I'd like a real paper copy of Lost Things. Can I order one? Where?

Yes! Dead tree copies are available! You can preorder the paperback from the publisher to ship on August 1, or you can preorder it from Barnes & Noble. It will also be available from Amazon in August, though I don't know exactly what date it will go up for sale.

Did you write the airship?

No, Melissa wrote the airship! :) It's really cool, isn't it?

What's your favorite part?

Tough question. The last two chapters, I think. So tense, so tight, so satisfying!

This is one of the best books I've read this year. When is the sequel coming out?

Thank you! I'm so glad you like it!

The sequel is called Steel Blues, and I think it will be out around the end of the year. The book is finished and in edits, and the cover art is commissioned from Bob Eggleton, who did the gorgeous airship cover of Lost Things.

Why isn't Lost Things for sale on Amazon? I have free shipping there.

It will be! We have an exclusive with Barnes & Noble for the month of July, but in August both the ebook and the paperback will be available on Amazon.

What is Gil's first name?

Angus. ;)

That's the roundup of short questions. There are some longer ones that will need their own entries. And if you have questions, comments or thoughts about Lost Things, drop me a comment! I'd love to hear!

Oh, I'm glad it wasn't just me - I thought I was doing something wrong at the B&N site. I've got my paperbacks on the way, but I've been so tempted by all the reviews and squeeage that I thought I'd get the ebook and start reading early. But I can wait for the actualfax book to come in the mail.

It's not so long now, really.

No, not just you! I've heard from three or four people with the same problem, all of them in Australia. I have no idea what gives. Maybe B&N isn't licensed to have rights for Australia or something? I have no idea. I've checked with some other people, and for example the Canadians seem to be getting it just fine. So I'm guessing it's about rights or licensing?

Not so long now! And thank you for waiting!

I had the error of "no non-US billing addresses" as well. Their official information indicates they only allow ebooks for USians and Canadians.

Hope you don't mind me asking here.

When will Amazon be selling the Furies in paperback? I've been waiting to order but all they have is the e-book copy.

I don't know. Probably not. They didn't choose to carry Allegiance in paperback. I wish they would, but that's up to Amazon! They don't carry things they don't think will sell enough copies, and apparently they've decided SGA has been off the air too long and nobody must be interested anymore. You can buy a paper copy here at Stargate Novels.
