Now in stores!

I've heard from two people that The General's Mistress is now in stores, in Maryland and in Canada! If you spot it in a store near you, would you mind dropping me a comment to this post and telling me where and when? I'm afraid I'm still not jaded about this!

It seems as if it's not going to be sold in UK shops (unless you buy it from Amazon.co.uk or similar, which considering the delivery times makes me suspect they get it sent from the US stores) until Spring, when it would be a hardback according to Waterstone's internal database. I can't find any contact information from Simon & Schuster to confirm any non-electronic UK release. Do you know what's going on with this?

As far as I know UK rights have not been sold, so there is at present no separately published British edition. You're right that these are US copies that are being sold by Amazon UK. The hardback is going to be a library edition, is my understanding -- so heavily bound for hard library use, and priced fairly high.

That explains it! Thank you!

I haven't been out to any bookstores, so I haven't seen it there yet. But I have seen my copy, because it arrived today.

It's even more beautiful a cover than it looks online. Mom is threatening to steal my copy as soon as I've finished reading it.

Oh wonderful! I hope it's gorgeous! And I so much hope you enjoy it!

And I have now been out, and have seen it out in a local bookstore.

Yay! That is awesome!

(Also I have to tell you that there may be parts that you find harrowing. But I promise it will get better! This is not a Hand of Isis ending.)

I'm up to a bit past her long discussion with Michael. It's fantastic so far. And you really weren't kidding when you said she was sensual!

I'm glad you like it so far!

She is sensual. As Michael says, it's how she perceives the world. And there is no error in it. She's the thing she is. But she's more than a pretty face, as she's learning. There is Lydias and Georg and Gull in there too.
