Here you go!

"Here's where we need to concentrate our search," John said. It was a small briefing, with only Carter, Cadman, Ronon, and Lorne in attendance. "You all have assigned areas to search, and we need to move fast."

"While being discreet," Carter added. "We need to find the ... object ... without drawing attention to the fact that we're looking for it."

Cadman's eyebrows went up, but she didn't ask questions. Carter and Lorne didn't look like they had questions. Ronon figured he'd wait until everyone else left before getting the real story out of John.

"All right, move out," John said. The others headed out, Lorne still leaning on a cane but managing a brisk pace despite it.

Eeeee!!! Alabaster's gamble, please.

Alabaster for you!

*Indeed, sabotage again,* Alabaster said, and her words silenced the confusion of conversation as though she had flipped a switch. She stood in the hatchway, her scarlet hair loose on her shoulders, her expression mildly curious. That was frightening enough on Guide, but terrifying on a queen, and Ember was not the only one to bow in instinctive answer.

Bonewhite did not bow, but his tone was respectful. *Lady.*

Alabaster came forward, laid one hand on his sleeve. *This must be rooted out.*

The Willing Sacrifice

He stopped on the stairs, turning back to look, Atlantis in her hubbub, the gateroom filled with everyone about their work. No one looked up, not even Radek, pushing his glasses back up on his nose as he toggled power around, talking in his headset at the same time. He thought he'd seen a flash of red by the console, the place where Elizabeth had stood before, the first time he'd taken out a puddle jumper to stop a Wraith fleet, but of course there was no one there. It was memory.

He turned and bounded up the stairs to the jumper bay.

John Sheppard's hands were quick and confident on the controls of the puddle jumper, putting it through the preflight warm-up. They didn't hesitate at all. After all, he'd done this hundreds of times. It wasn't any different because it was the last time.

Mind to Mind!

Rodney put his hands in his pockets as the door slid open, bars parting as she stepped through. "What, you're going to interrogate me now?"

"Yes," Teyla said. She stopped a few feet from him, aware that if he were Death's agent this would be the point of no return, the moment at which the deception would be done and he would have nothing to lose. "Rodney, we must know if you are telling the truth or not. If you are, you have nothing to fear. And if you are not...."

He gave her a lopsided smile that was very Rodney. "If I'm not, then you're going to kill me?"

You picked one of my favorite parts! So a longer piece for you....

"Okay," John said. "Let's do this." He closed his eyes and leaned back, the pads of his fingers sinking in the soft silicone gel that allowed the chair to connect to his own nervous system. There was the usual momentary disorientation as connections formed, the universe broadening until his own body was only a tiny part. John Sheppard sat in the chair in Atlantis.

And John Sheppard was Atlantis. He was the city, thousands of years old, home of millions of people throughout time, lost beneath the waves and found again, a wandering relic, a caravan, an ark, a place of safety that traveled through the stars as surely as a Wraith hive ship.

It's the same, John thought. It's the same idea, the same heart of it -- a place that can be anyplace, a ship to sail the wide seas of night and carry people in it safe from the hazards of any shore. My home.

Yours, the city whispered, each circuit reaching for each synapse like a child reaching for its mother, like lover speaking to lover. For a moment he knew them all as the city had known them, pilot upon pilot who sat in this chair through the long centuries, chosen by luck or by skill, in honor and in hardship, a boy barely into his teens sinking into the city's systems to speak through it, its voice now his, an old woman who had died in the chair's embrace, gratefully breathing her last as a hyperspace window opened. They were the ones who had come before him, guardians all.

For a moment he saw himself, black uniform and graying hair. The chair tilted back to welcome him. This was where he belonged. This was what it needed. His mind, his touch, his strength to yield. And long after John Sheppard was dead, Atlantis would remember.

Ok, it's hard to find a piece of that chapter that's not very spoilery, and this is about the only thing that isn't! :)

"I found him in the botany lab," Dr. Parrish said. "Sitting in a pot of nepeta cataria. I think he belongs to you?"

"He does," McKay said, hurrying over to the box. Newton oozed out the top, climbing up his shoulder with all claws and butting McKay's chin with his head, purring wildly. "Hey, Newton. Did you get lost? Was it scary down there?" Newton butted him again, rubbing his chin against McKay's as McKay clutched him awkwardly one-handed to his chest.

"Newton?" said Dr. Parrish.

"After Sir Isaac Newton," McKay said.

Dr. Parrish sniffed. "That's not very original. I think you should have named him Tesla."

"At least I didn’t name him Edison," McKay said.

"We're still trying to scan for naquadah," Sam said.

"But the item is very small," Radek said, "and this city is full of things that are made of naquadah. We have not been able to distinguish finely enough -- what is the thing we are looking for and what is a power relay, for example? It is just too small and the scanners will not do such fine work. They are not meant for this."

John scrubbed his chin with his hand. "So what does that mean?"

"It means we're out of technical solutions to find it," Sam said, straightening up. "I think we need to consider what happens if we don't find it in time."

In which Richard Woolsey is not having his best day....

"You've allied with the Wraith?" Ladon heard his own voice scale up, and didn't care. "Are you mad?"

"Guide is commander of an alliance that is opposed to Queen Death," Woolsey said. "We have a common and deadly enemy."

"And I," the Wraith warrior said, "have no desire to ally myself with the Genii."

Ladon looked at him again, and swore. "Kolya's Wraith."

"Yes, I was Kolya's prisoner," the Wraith said. "And from him I learned never to trust a Genii."

"No more than we can trust a Wraith," Ladon snapped.

Teyla and Radek for you then!

Sheffield nodded, gesturing to his men, and Radek followed Teyla across the bay. "If no one is watching the explosives, perhaps I should try to defuse them now," he said, breaking into a trot to stay at her heels. "It may still be possible to override the jamming."

"Let us take the control room first," Teyla answered. "If we can first secure the ship, then everything else will be much easier."

Well, yes, Radek thought, but that presupposed they could take the control room without too much trouble. He hurried after Teyla and the Marines, hoping she was right.

For you, Major Lorne at his best!

"Ok, Linney, you're next."

"Negative. Negative, I am out of fuel. I'm not going to make it."

"Major Lorne," Mitchell said. "I've got a man down, can you grab him?:"

The third 302 was on its line, engine stuttering. As long as the Pride held her course, he'd be ok. Lorne turned his attention outward, looking for the other 302, Linney. Yes, there it was, engines dead, on a flat course to nowhere, except that a Dart was bound to see it first and finish it off. Tractors? he asked and the Pride answered instantly.
Too far. Just out of range.

But not for long. Lorne checked the bay -- there was the third 302, too high, scraping through the opening to come in hard against the inner barriers -- and the calculations presented themselves. Yes, there, just a touch of acceleration to close the gap, roll left to put the Pride between the mess of Darts and the drifting ship, and tractor on, to catch her, slow her down....

Guide, for you....

He glanced at Alabaster, now curiously examining one of the small cakes with pink tops that the Lanteans had brought several hours ago. She sniffed it, then took a wary taste, her nose wrinkling as though she were trying to decide if she actually liked it. He remembered that expression from her childhood, when she had been fond of the sweetest fruits, and for a moment the memory threatened to overwhelm him, the favorites of the zenana at ease in the chamber behind the formal gathering place, leaning against Snow's chair while she and the Hivemaster played at tables, while her two favorite clevermen vied to offer treats to Alabaster. She'd just been walking then, so small then that she ricocheted from chair to knee and back, giggling and tugging at sleeves and skirts of coats until blade or cleverman lifted her. Spark had brought a stalk of melos from the world where they had last Culled, and Alabaster crowed with delight as she sucked on them, her thoughts filled with the honey-sweet taste of the fruit. Seeker had brought snap-rose, and she stuck the blossoms solemnly in his beard, where they nipped at his chin and drove Snow to snorting undignified laughter....

Dead, all dead, except for himself and Alabaster, and Darling was older now than she had been then.

Queen to Queen!

Teyla lunged out, P90 rising with a spray of bullets across the corridor. The two foremost blades pitched under the hail of fire, one dropping to his knees and the other reeling against the wall as Teyla slid into cover on the other side of the hall.

And still they came on, Death and the other two men. They would simply overwhelm her.

Teyla dove across again, firing as she went, a knee-high raking fire. She heard a bellow of pain and stunner bolts streaked just over her head, coalescing against the wall behind her. She landed hard on her right hip, the old bone bruise shrieking in pain, slowing her down. A blade stood over her, stunner in hand.

And then it was knocked away by a pike, flying from the Wraith's hand. Bronze brought it around backhanded, slashing the blade across the forearms. *Run!* he yelled as Teyla got to her feet.

Yes indeed! :)

"Do it before I change my mind," Radek said.

Impossibly, something like a smile crossed Ember's face. His feeding hand moved as though of its own volition, faster than Radek had expected, fastening onto the bared skin of his chest. Pain lanced through him, worse than he would have believed possible, a hundred heart attacks, a thousand knives. It had all gone wrong, he thought, hazily, Keller was wrong, and I'm going to die. Except... his hands were unchanged, unwithered, remained ordinary and unmarked even as the pain pulled him down into the dark.

Jack calls for backup....

The wormhole opened brilliant blue, and Jack stepped up to use the radio. "This is General O'Neill," he said.

"Landry here," Hank Landry replied after a pause just long enough for him to push his way forward to the mike. "What goes on in Atlantis?"

"The databurst explains, but I'll sum up," Jack said. "A massive Wraith fleet is bearing down on Atlantis. Our Genii and Wraith allies are not playing nicely with us at the moment. We're still hoping we can get them on board, but we may have to work with what we have."

"What do you need?"

"Dr. Lee and a repair team would help. Also some Marine backup. SG-3, if you've got them."

"They're offworld," Landry said. "I can send you SG-5 and SG-18."

"That works. And we could use some doughnuts for the morning briefing."
