Elza's World

I cannot even express how excited I am to see Les Mis! Here's the new trailer.

This is definitely Elza's world, and the details are perfect, right down to Javert's collar pins.

The General's Mistress and the subsequent Elza books, overlap with Les Miserables in both time and space. In the second book Elza spends a lot of time in Montrueil, where Valjean encounters Fantine, about ten years before the events in Les Miserables. And of course the entire Paris section at the end is Elza's world -- she's there, off screen, in real life, still as independent and unrepentant as ever! We'll see her view of these events in the last of the books, The Grand Army's Widow.

This looks like a gorgeous production. Everything looks and feels right, not like it was borrowed from Pride and Prejudice or The Scarlet Pimpernel, a very specific moment in time, a very specific feeling. I can't wait!

Are you saying this can overcome the glaring failure of the stage musical's book to even begin to do justice to the book?

um, this trailer truly makes it look epic, doesn't it?

In other news, did I tell you what I found at my local library sitting in the new fiction table? Yup, that's right..... The General's Mistress. I'm going to dive into it while the kids are on christmas vacation (and I'm NOT working till 1 am and bleary eyed the next morning!)

lol - I think the librarian thought I was a little weird when I did a little fan-girl jump and yelled to her....this author is awesome, if you don't know her, well you really should rent this next.
