Dahlia, please!
Jan. 18th, 2013 03:46 pm (UTC)
Dahlia it is!

Radim's sister Dahlia was waiting in the control room, supervising a team of scientists who seemed to be activating the last of the ship's systems. She turned at their entrance, and Radim nodded a greeting.

"Dahlia. May I present Major Lorne, Captain Cadman, and Dr. Campbell? Mr. Woolsey has sent them to assist us with the Pride of the Genii."

"A pleasure, Major," Dahlia said. She was taller than her brother, and fair-haired, with deep shadows under her eyes. "I do not believe we met before --"

She stopped then, color flooding her face, and Lorne fought to keep his face impassive. No, they most certainly hadn't met, because she'd been sent to Atlantis as a hostage when her brother had kidnapped Lorne and the rest of his team -- but there was no point in mentioning that. "I don't think so, ma'am," he said, in his most neutral voice, and Dr. Campbell cleared her throat.

Torren for you!

"Thanks for meeting me at the gate," John said.

"I know you are a busy man," Kanaan said, not entirely graciously.

John glanced down at Torren. "Jinto, could you take Torren for a minute? Torren, go with Jinto, buddy."

Jinto shrugged and traded torch for child. "Did you have fun in Atlantis, Torren?"

John drew Kanaan aside, far enough away that Jinto and Torren were dark shadows at the edge of the circle of torchlight. "Queen Death's fleet is going to reach Atlantis in less than twelve hours," he said. "We're going to put up a hell of a fight, I can promise you that."

"But not that you will be victorious."

"I wish I could promise me that."

Hm, can I cheat a little and ask for something with Lorne and Cadman in it, please?
Jan. 18th, 2013 04:30 pm (UTC)
Here's Cadman, leading a boarding party....

Cadman looked back at her tablet. It looked as though there was one quick and obvious way to the hive's engineering spaces, and even if the Wraith were waiting for them, she couldn't see a better way. Radim nodded as though he'd read her thought, and pointed to the same corridor.

"This way," he said, and gave her a wry smile. "Sometimes you just have to attack head-on."

"That's what Marines are for, sir," Cadman said. "Johnson! Move out!"

John, in a tight spot with Rodney!

"What's going on?" Rodney demanded.

"You tell me," John said in a dangerous tone. "Carter found your secret clubhouse. The weapon isn't there."

"That's where I left it," Rodney said. "Someone must have found it." John and Woolsey exchanged looks. "You have to believe me."

"Believe me, I wish we could," Woolsey said.

"But we can't," John said flatly. "Not unless we can get someone to tell us what's really going on in your head."
Jan. 18th, 2013 04:25 pm (UTC)
One can never have enough Rodney! Failing that, how about some more Carter?

Can't wait till the book is up on kindle/itunes! *Bounces up and down and checks daily for it*
Jan. 18th, 2013 04:34 pm (UTC)
Rodney for you!

Rodney forced himself to step out casually, as if he were merely deciding that now would be a good time for a stroll. "Does this mean you've decided I'm not secretly working for the Wraith?"

"No," Ronon said flatly. "Sheppard sent me to guard you."

"Guard me, right, like you're going to know exactly what I'm doing. If I were in league with the Wraith, there are a thousand ways I could sabotage our systems without you knowing it. Not that I am in league with the Wraith," Rodney added hurriedly. "I'm just saying."

Radek shrugged. "I know," he said. "For what it is worth, I recommended against your being released."

Lorne please
Jan. 18th, 2013 06:18 pm (UTC)
Lorne, at the helm of the Ancient warship...

Lorne's fingers tightened in the connective gel as he watched the ships wheel in the tactical display. The Hammond was trying to recover her 302s, but the big cruiser was pushing her hard. He felt a flicker of reaction, almost a wince, from the ship, and consciously relaxed his grip. Hammond needed a distraction, and he brought the Pride of the Genii up and around, trying to get a better shot at either of the cruisers pushing the Hammond.

"Port batteries, fire if you get a shot," he said, and vaguely heard the acknowledgement. His world narrowed to lines of force, patterns in the deadly dance; he rolled the Pride as though she were a 302, stars spinning in the main screen, and came up behind and beneath one of the smaller cruiser.

Alabaster, please? (Maybe with Darling and/or Guide, if it's not too spoilery?)
Jan. 18th, 2013 06:20 pm (UTC)
Alabaster and Guide!

Out of the corner of his eye, Guide saw Alabaster cock her head, and answered before she could respond. *No. We had a bargain, which they have not fulfilled. They are counting on us to be desperate, but we must play a longer game.*

*If we don't back one side or the other,* Bonewhite said, *there will no longer be a game.*

*And why should we back the Lanteans?* Ease demanded.

*There can be no truce with Queen Death!* That was Ember, sharp and out of turn, and Alabaster bared teeth in a smile.

*The cleverman speaks truth,* she said. *The bridge is burnt.*

Jennifer for me, cos I'm prolly the only one interested.
Jan. 18th, 2013 06:22 pm (UTC)
Jennifer and Woolsey for you then!

"I can't promise anything," Jennifer said. "It's like doing humanitarian relief work in a war zone. You may not like the war, but you also can't stop it. You can only help the people you can."

"Believe me, I appreciate the potential benefits," Woolsey said. "I'm just concerned about placing you in such a risky situation. You'll be entirely isolated, and any contact with Atlantis will be entirely on Guide and Alabaster's terms. We may not be in a position to retrieve you if they decide to break off ongoing relations with us."

Waterlight please? and/or Teyla? Please?
Jan. 18th, 2013 06:41 pm (UTC)
Teyla and Alabaster....

Alabaster caught her thought and held it, turning to Teyla with a quizzical expression on her face. *Do you wish you were Steelflower in truth?* she asked.

Teyla looked around the queen's chambers, lush with soft lighting and fine fabrics, cool mist rising from the floor to ease breathing and soothe the skin, each screen and fret designed to give delight, all while Just Fortune moved through the coldness of space, an oasis amid a desert of stars. *No,* she said. *I would not want Osprey's choice. To kill or to starve.*

Alabaster nodded slowly. *So it must seem to you, a choice. But it is not a choice to those who have never known anything else. We are not the First Mothers, and we were born this way.*

How about Mel Hocken? Because her story has intrigued me since Death Game.
Jan. 18th, 2013 07:37 pm (UTC)
Redheads stick together! Mel Hocken and Cameron Mitchell for you!

Across the deck, Sam and Lt. Colonel Hocken had their heads together, going over some last minute point of strategy. They looked up as he and Teal'c approached.

Hocken grinned at him. "If it isn't Shaft."

Sam's mouth twitched, but she refrained from comment.

"Hi, Mel," he said. "I thought I'd come lend a hand."

Hocken cocked her head. "You still remember how to fly these things?"

"Remember, sure," Cam said. "But it's been a while."

"We'll be sure to start you off nice and easy."

I'm going to go with my favorites.... Please a scene with John and Teyla in it!
Jan. 18th, 2013 07:39 pm (UTC)
John and Teyla for you!

The door closed behind them, and she walked ahead of him out of the brig and around the corner before he stopped, dropping his voice. "You're sure?"

"I am sure he does not know where the weapon is," Teyla said. "And I do not think he consciously obeys Queen Death."

"Yes," she said. "He does not know of any loyalty or allegiance to her."

"But?" John met her eyes directly.

Teyla shook her head. "I cannot say whether there is something at work that even Rodney is not aware of. I do not know enough about what is possible,John! Rodney knows of no such imperative, and as far as he is aware he is in control of himself and his actions. But I cannot promise that there is no hidden imperative left below the surface."

Ember, please
Jan. 18th, 2013 07:41 pm (UTC)
Ember, having a suspicion....

Blackiron hesitated again, his thoughts close-held, unreadable. Ember watched him, a thread of fear winding through him.

*What is it?*

*Nothing, I think.* Blackiron's tone was less certain even than the wavering words, and Ember frowned.

*Even so, if it disturbs you -- a burden shared is a burden eased.*

*So they say.* Blackiron turned abruptly. *I will show you something, but -- I'll deny it came from me.*

Bonewhite, please, or a random Wraith character of your choice. :)

Guide for you, and a memory of his original hive....

He glanced at Alabaster, now curiously examining one of the small cakes with pink tops that the Lanteans had brought several hours ago. She sniffed it, then took a wary taste, her nose wrinkling as though she were trying to decide if she actually liked it. He remembered that expression from her childhood, when she had been fond of the sweetest fruits, and for a moment the memory threatened to overwhelm him, the favorites of the zenana at ease in the chamber behind the formal gathering place, leaning against Snow's chair while she and the Hivemaster played at tables, while her two favorite clevermen vied to offer treats to Alabaster. She'd just been walking then, so small that she ricocheted from chair to knee and back, giggling and tugging at sleeves and skirts of coats until blade or cleverman lifted her. Spark had brought a stalk of melos from the world where they had last Culled, and Alabaster crowed with delight as she sucked on them, her thoughts filled with the honey-sweet taste of the fruit. Seeker had brought snap-rose, and she stuck the blossoms solemnly in his beard, where they nipped at his chin and drove Snow to snorting undignified laughter.... Dead, all dead, except for himself and Alabaster, and Darling was older now than she had been then.

Queen Death please or even better a Queen Death/Teyla moment????
Jan. 19th, 2013 10:51 pm (UTC)
Just for you, Teyla and Queen Death! You knew it had to happen, right? :)

Three stunner blasts had caught him at once. Bronze lay unmoving on the floor. Waterlight put her hand against his face. *Please be well!*

*He is stunned,* Teyla said. She felt a heavy thud against the door. *He will live if we do. But I cannot hold this door. This is Death's zenana. She will simply order it open and the ship will obey.*

The door shuddered open. Teyla brought up the P90. Bullets flew, and the remaining blade fell back under withering fire. Two shots caught Queen Death in the chest, but she stepped through it calmly, her hand closing about Teyla's neck. She lifted her off her feet like a rag doll and threw her across the room. Teyla's head struck the wall, and she knew no more.

If I can make a 2nd request, Teal'c1
Jan. 19th, 2013 10:55 pm (UTC)

"Good afternoon, Colonel Carter."

"Teal'c!" Sam bounced up with something like her old buoyancy. Behind him Cameron Mitchell and Daniel were both beaming as she threw her arms around Teal'c. "What are you doing here?"

"We happened to be in the neighborhood," Daniel said, his hands in his pockets.

"And Landry said something about you needing 302 pilots," Cam said.

"It seemed that we could make ourselves useful," Teal'c said as she let go of him and hugged Daniel.

"Besides," Daniel said. "Do you think we'd let you and Jack get yourselves killed by a million Wraith while we sat in Colorado?"
