The Order of the Air

A question for everyone who is reading/has read the three Order of the Air books so far -- which is your favorite? I'm very curious.

Which is your favorite so far?

Lost Things
Steel Blues
Silver Bullet

Why do you like that one best?

It was a toss-up for me between Steel Blues and Silver Bullet. I really enjoyed the air race, but the character-related happenings in Silver Buller!

That's interesting -- in some ways they're part one and part two of the same plot. And then in other ways, like the Pelley plot, Silver Bullet is part one and Wind Raker is part two.

Doh! I evened everything up, apparently. ;D I like the third one because all the pieces are in place and it feels like it's able to just be a story without worrying about introductions (well, there's one introduction ;D). Plus, you know, Tesla dropping bombs from an airplane!

Tesla! How can you go wrong with Tesla?

New Orleans! Jewel thief! PTSD! Steel Blues is somewhat inevitably my favorite. :D

I really do love all three of them, but Silver Bullet has Jerry being awesome in a place of his strength, plus I have discovered I adore Iskinder.

Jerry does have his own show in Silver Bullet. I love Iskinder too. I wish I had some idea what will eventually happen to him.

So far, I love Steel Blues the most, but I haven't yet started Silver Bullet.
I love it BECAUSE MITCH. It's his story. Also I love anything set in New Orleans, plus it's where I met Stasi. Many many good things abound.
And also, MITCH. <3

I'm glad you love Steel Blues! And I promise that if Mitch is your guy, you will love Silver Bullet!

Lost Things had the most sense of wonder to me -- I loved how rich it was in characters, relationships, settings, and events, and especially the vocation these people felt when so many people came out of WWI cynical (understandably, but still). I've enjoyed the next two, Silver Bullet even more than Steel Blues, but they didn't have the impact that Lost Things had for me.

I see that! And it's a plunge off the deep end into this world. Also there's the classically-themed magic item, which the other two have later things. As does Wind Raker, but we're back to the classics in Oath Bound.

I started SB..."there may be a rain of frogs"! :D
Also, I'm pleased that Jerry got some.

*grin* There may indeed be a rain of frogs! They're going to have to practice night and day.

Me too. Jerry's mood is much improved!
