Just Plain Fun

And then there are the books that are just plain fun! This year's Lambda Literary Award winner in LGBT science fiction/fantasy is one of those. Death By Silver is a glorious romp through a Victorian London that isn't quite our own, where magic (or metaphysics, as they call it) is a respectable profession and young men up from school sometimes have to take on unpleasant clients to make ends meet. When Ned Mathey takes on a commission for the father of an old school bully, and his client suddenly winds up dead of a magical curse, Ned has to call upon the assistance of Julian Lynes, private detective and schoolboy crush. The results are (dare I say it?) magical!

If you enjoy steampunk, urban fantasy with a twist, or slightly traumatized repressed young men, Melissa Scott and Amy Griswold have delivered a very, very enjoyable fantasy novel in Death By Silver.

Right now, as part of the We're Not at Worldcon sale, it's 60% off! It's almost like being in London!

I've seen that before, I think. Is is part of a series?

Death By Silver is the first in a series. The second one will be out in October. It's really good!

I found "Death by Silver", like "The Armor of Light" through your posts and I like both very much. I hope to see a continuation for both. I don't usually comment much online, so please tell your colleagues that there are at least some people waiting for continuations of these books, since I think there's plenty of room for both to go on.
It would definitely give me something to read while waiting for new installments in the Order of the Air series and Atlantis Legacy as well.
Don't think that I've forgotten your book about those people about to be stranded on an alien planet, the fugitives from a space ship about to fail. I forget the proposed title of the book. but I would buy it if it were to be published. If you don't find a publisher, maybe you could consider self-publishing on Amazon....
Anyway, keep up the work. it is appreciated. I like fantasy a lot and you're not the only authors I seek, but it's works such as yours that keep me going through rough days.

I will tell them! And I'm so glad you enjoyed the books. The sequel to Death By Silver is coming out in October. It's called A Death at the Dionysus Club and it's up for preorder. I've already read a draft, and I think it's even better than Death By Silver!

Oh thank you! I'm so glad you like Lifeboat. Maybe someday I'll find a publisher for it. *fingers crossed*

Right now I'm working on the fifth Order of the Air book, Oath Bound. In which Jerry finally gets to follow the clue of the medallion he found in Silver Bullet....

Oh yes, I'm still waiting for "Lifeboat".

I'm so glad. I hope it will sell someday.
