Wind Raker is shipping

Apparently Amazon already has paper copies of Wind Raker in stock and people who preordered paper copies are getting them! This is early. This is awesome! (Sing out of you've got one.) So if you wanted a paper copy and were holding out preordering, they're live!

I got mine and read it already and it's wonderful. Thank you so much. If I already told you this, ignore me. :D

No, you didn't already tell me. I'm so glad you like it! This is first one that has major crossover with the Numinous World. What did you think of that?

I'm not sure I know what that is. Is Numinous World linked to some other books of yours? Because other than official tie-in novels, the Order of the Air books are the only things I've read from you. So far at least, LOL!

The Numinous World is my solo series of historical fantasies, Black Ships, Stealing Fire, and Hand of Isis set in the ancient world, and then (so far) The General's Mistress and The Emperor's Agent set in the Napoleonic Wars. (The third book in that bunch is coming this summer, The Marshal's Lover.) The main character of the Numinous World is Bea from Wind Raker! Alma's flashback to her death at Waterloo is (and Lewis' impression of her marriage to Mitch) is in the timeframe of The General's Mistress etc. We haven't seen Alma and Mitch in the Numinous World books yet, but we might. Anyway, the Numinous World is Bea's story through a number of lives. There are a lot of the same elements, including the Lodge magic. If you're thinking about starting the Numinous World, you have a lot of choices! Chronologically the first book is Black Ships. My favorite is Stealing Fire, though that has Bea as a male protagonist. The General's Mistress is the closest and most familiar setting, as it's easy to find the Regency, right? I do warn you though that there is more sex in the Numinous World books than the Order of the Air.

Thank you for the explanation! Bea is a great character and it makes sense, given how vivid and real she is in Wind Raker, that you already knew her so well! Thank you!

(more sex is not a Do Not Want for me, LOL)

I'm glad you like Bea. You might try The General's Mistress then. It's quite sexy, and Elza is closer in time and character to the Order of the Air. However, it's unfortunately still the most expensive one (the price is set by my publisher, not by me) so you might start with the second one in that series, The Emperor's Agent. I think it works to start with the second, and that book has more of a team feel. If you do read it, I'd love to hear what you think!

Sigh. This made me briefly hopeful that the ebook might also be early. Alas no.

No, not quite. I guess they had it in stock and didn't see any reason to sit on the copies of the people who preordered. I never understand exactly how it works!

Whoo-hoo! Hardcover is available too! I still might not be able to read it until I get the ebook-- toddlers. Reading on my phone's a lot easier.

I hope you enjoy it! And I hear you about being easier to read! How many toddlers? What age?

Twin boys, turning 3 in April. Pure delights except when they're being...well, uncivilized savages!

Oh my goodness what delight! (And enormous mess, I bet!) I've only had one toddler at a time. And you find time to read! :)
